Return, Refund & Consumer Rights Policy

At Auto Colour Paints & Abrasives, we are committed to providing quality products and excellent customer service. This policy is designed to comply with the South African Consumer Protection Act, 2008 (CPA).
1. Your Rights Under the Consumer Protection Act
As a customer, you have the right to receive goods that are:

Of good quality.
-
In good working order and free of defects.
-
Reasonably suitable for the purpose for which they are intended.

Durable for a reasonable period under normal use.
If a product fails to meet these standards, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund in accordance with the CPA.
2. Defective Products (6-Month CPA Warranty)
If a product is found to be defective, unsafe, or does not perform as reasonably expected, you may return it within 6 months of purchase.
In accordance with Section 56 of the CPA, you may choose one of the following remedies:

Repair of the product.

Replacement of the product.

Full refund.
This right applies provided the defect was not caused by misuse, neglect, accidental damage, unauthorized modifications, or failure to follow product instructions.
3. Online Order Cooling-Off Period
For eligible online purchases, customers may cancel their order within 5 business days after receiving the goods in terms of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA).
To exercise this right:

Notify us in writing within the 5-business-day period.

Return the goods unused and in their original packaging.

Goods must be returned at the customer's expense unless otherwise required by law.
A refund will be processed after the returned goods have been received and inspected.
4. Returns for Incorrectly Supplied Goods
If we supply the wrong product, please notify us within 7 days of delivery.
We will arrange collection or return shipping at our expense and provide either:

The correct item, or
-
A full refund.
5. Products That Cannot Be Returned
The following products may not be returned unless they are defective, damaged, or incorrectly supplied:

Custom-mixed or custom-tinted paints.
-
Special-order products sourced specifically for a customer.
-
Products altered, installed, or used after delivery.
-
Clearance or discontinued stock marked as non-returnable.

Items damaged through misuse, negligence, improper storage, or unauthorized repair.
Nothing in this section limits any rights granted under the CPA.
6. Damaged Deliveries
Please inspect your order upon delivery.
If an item arrives damaged:

Notify us within 48 hours.

Provide photographs of the damage and packaging.

Include your order number and contact details.
We will assess the claim and arrange an appropriate solution.
7. Refund Processing
Once a return has been approved and inspected, refunds will be processed to the original payment method.
Please allow 5–10 business days for the refund to reflect, depending on your bank or payment provider.
Shipping fees are generally non-refundable unless:

The product is defective.

The product was incorrectly supplied.

The return is required under applicable consumer protection laws.
8. Heavy, Oversized & Freight Items
Certain products sold by Auto Colour Paints & Abrasives weigh between 20kg and 500kg and may require specialized courier services.
Where a return is approved, collection arrangements may be made. Additional collection charges may apply where the return is not due to a defect, damage, or supply error.
9. Order Cancellations
Orders may be cancelled before dispatch for a full refund.
If an order has already been dispatched, the return will be handled in accordance with this policy and applicable South African consumer legislation.
